I’m still mesmerized after last night’s Oscars. I watch some awards shows strictly to see who’s wearing what and I can’t wait for it to end. But, even after three hours and forty-five minutes of the Oscars, I was left wanting more. Neil Patrick Harris was delightful, acceptance speeches were genuine, touching and statement-making; and between Lady Gaga’s tribute to the Sound of Music and Common and John Legend’s performance of ‘Glory,’ it was enough to bring a grown man to tears.

The ladies on the red carpet delivered, too.Β This red carpet was all about the embellishment. There were so many extraordinary dresses, it’s hard to compute. But, these four starlets’ whole looks were on point: Emma Stone might be the only person on the planet who could pull off that shade of spring-green – her matching shoes, side-swept do and fresh-faced makeup completed the look. Rosamund Pike‘s jaw-dropping red dress is so elaborate you’d think it’d be over-the-top, but it’s absolutely perfect. The deep-red color, scalloped neckline, armor of rosebuds, nipped-in waist, high-slit and understated hair and accessories are impeccable. Naomi Watts is glamorous and edgy all at once. All of the sequins, the halter-bandeau combo, dramatic makeup and her long-bob in perfect loose waves is faultless. And then there was Gwyneth Paltrow. The fit is precise, the pale pink color is oddly delectable and she pulls off a giant rose on her shoulder like no one else could. Statement earrings and a simple half-up hairstyle are the ultimate accompaniments.

The Oscars were the best ending to this awards show season and perfect inspiration to add a little ornamentation to my wardrobe arsenal.
