Dressing well in the desert midsummer is no small feat. Regardless of the “dry heat,” 105º is really hot. I tend to reach for short pieces and breezy materials to survive the season. Suede and I went on a day-date over the weekend: a hike, followed by lots of eating. A crop top and skirt-like shorts were perfect to transition out of my athletic wear; paired with a block heel and lots of gold accessories created a date-worthy look. Post hike, we popped into Brewd, a local coffee lounge for a shared Americano and quick bite. We continued with apps and a drink at the newly opened Commoner & Co. The melon gimlet was most welcomed on a hot July day and the ideal mate for our rich, savory apps. We’re so excited to be working with Tucson Foodie for a twice-a-month column on gluten-free, dairy-free dining in Tucson. Today is the launch of our first column, centered around dining near Sabino Canyon. Enjoy!
